Job Summary
The System Reliability Supervisor is responsible for the safe, reliable and efficient real-time operation of the company's bulk electric power system by effectively assessing and utilizing available resources, monitoring overall system conditions and adhering to reliability criteria, including full compliance to NERC Standards.
Job Responsibilities
- Implement daily system resource plans to satisfy customer demand and implement load management programs
- Work with power plants and transmission operators to coordinate outages of facilities
- Monitor and assess current system operating conditions and initiate necessary actions
- Evaluate abnormal operating conditions and coordinate emergency actions to restore overall system reliability
- Direct all switching activities under their jurisdiction, issue hold-off clearances to permit safe line or station maintenance work
- Operate supervisory controls, and coordinate with other interconnected operational entities such as ATC, Midwest ISO
- Responsible for assembling, maintaining and reporting various system operating and planning conditions, using a variety of computer systems, network applications and contingency analysis
- Responsible for operational performance in full compliance with NERC reliability standards
- Adhere to FERC 'standards of conduct' and confidentiality agreements
Minimum Qualifications
- Valid Driver's License
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and negotiating skills are essential for success in this position
- Strong problem solving, planning and organization skills are required
- This individual must be capable of dealing with stressful situations and making sound decisions in a timely manner
- Significant technical experience and knowledge utilizing a variety of computer and communication systems
- NERC Operator Certification is required or must be obtained within 6 months
- This position requires unescorted access to certain critical cyber assets which would require applicants to satisfy all Company and NERC Critical Infrastructure Protection Standard 004 security requirements, which includes a background investigation
- This position involves a rotating shift covering 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and occasional travel may be required. Must enjoy a dynamic work environment
Preferred Qualifications
- A Bachelor's Degree is preferred
- Knowledge of the bulk electric system is desirable
Testing requirements
System Operator/Power Dispatch II (SOPD): ability to analyze information and logically derive conclusions, mathematical usage, reading comprehension, ability to monitor multiple tasks simultaneously and move between them to respond as needed.

Pay Range Minimum: $101,743.46
Pay Range Maximum: $152,615.06
The pay range reflects the minimum and maximum for the position at the time of posting and may be modified in the future. The starting salary/pay within the pay range will be based on several factors, as applicable, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, shift, travel requirements, collective bargaining agreements, and business and organizational needs. At WEC Energy Group, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role.
